You puppy may lose some weight when he/she first gets to their new home. This is normal. Your
puppy may need assurance from you that they are safe in their new home and will need you to help
them feel at ease. He may not eat as well at first but that will pass.

Your puppy is small and eats small amounts of food. They will eat as much as you let them as
puppies so you must control the amounts you give them. Over feeding a pup will ruin a dog and can
cause prevented health issues. I feed my pups three times a day and make sure they have plenty of
fresh water. Yes giving them a healthy treat is no problem. Natural chew bones or raw hide is a good
way to help keep their teeth cleaner, helps puppies shed their baby teeth and gives them something
to chew on besides your shoe.

Just know that over feeding in not good for your pets. Do not feed them take leftovers. They may like

Feeding Guideline

These guideline amounts are a starting point and your pet may need more food depending on
age, activity and temperament. In order to reach optimal body condition, you may need to adjust
food intake. This represents the total recommended volume of food per day. You should divide
the total recommended feeding amount by the number of times you feed your pet per day to get
the actual portion size per feeding.
Personally I have found my Yorkshire pups eat less then the guideline.
You have to watch and ensure your pet does not over eat. It is not healthy for them to extra
pounds.
You'll find your dogs will also love different types of  vegetables. Fresh is best. Canned goods
have a high salt content.

I feel is the owners best interest to study and research the diet and types of foods that you can

Protein, Fat and Fiber: Key Nutrients for Dogs


The Importance of High-Quality Protein

Not all protein sources are the same when it comes to feeding your dog. Dogs are best fed as
carnivores and require essential nutrients that are not found in plant proteins such as soybean
meal. Eukanuba dog food products contain animal-based proteins that provide all the essential

Unique Fatty Acids in Our Foods

There are two important types of fatty acids for dogs—omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-6
fatty acids, found in chicken fat and corn, are essential for maintenance of skin and coat and
proper membrane structure. Omega-3 fatty acids are found in ingredients such as canola, fish
meal and flax. Omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to be important in blood clotting and
decreasing inflammation, among other things. All Eukanuba products contain sources of omega-6
and omega-3 fatty acids.

Our research has shown that including omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids in a ratio between 5:1 to
10:1 provides for optimal skin and coat condition in dogs. All of our products contain an adjusted

Moderately Fermentable Fiber

Our research has shown that moderately fermentable fiber, such as beet pulp, enhances intestinal
health. The fermentable part of the fiber is broken down by intestinal bacteria to provide short-
chain fatty acids, an energy source for intestinal cells. The nonfermentable component provides
bulk for normal feces.

Using only highly fermentable fibers can cause problems, such as excess gas, while using only
non-fermentable fibers, such as peanut hulls, promotes excess stool volume, because they are of
no nutritional value.
